About The Shropshire County Agricultural Show

The Shropshire County Agricultural Show was created in the late nineteenth century when it was launched as part of the cooperative venture - The Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society.

Since 1875 agriculture has seen massive changes in farming techniques, engine-powered machinery and technology, but despite this, the DMOS People West Mid Showground and its annual show have always kept abreast of every new trend and continues to showcase the latest initiatives.

The show has been held for an impressive 150 years and throughout this span of time farmers, their families and their employees, and in the recent years a wider range of people, have come together annually to enjoy themselves in the merry month of May.

What to expect...

The event showcases the agricultural world across Shropshire and beyond. Our main arena features attractions to entertain the crowds as well as our fabulous Young Farmer’s Floats – a highlight every year – and our Grand Parade where the winning animals and champions from our livestock competitions are proudly shown.

A Countryside Arena, bandstand, horse and livestock rings, children’s entertainment, food, trade, Men’s Shed, vintage displays and our fantastic agricultural exhibitors all come together to create a fabulous day out for all the family.

Did you know?

The late Queen Elizabeth II entered Jersey cattle from the Royal Farms at Windsor at the 1975 show – and watched the judging as they won £86 in prize money!

Children aged 15 and under receive free entry to the Shropshire County Show and our large Youth Zone sees a variety of activities with extreme mountain biking, Parkour, Archery, canoeing and more taking place over the last decade!

Countryside arena

Our Countryside Arena focuses on countryside pursuits and visitors can see the Welsh Axeman in action alongside sheepdogs, falconry and more! The arena returned to the show in 2024.

Merry Month of May

Our event is held on the Saturday of the second May bank holiday and although our fingers are always crossed for good weather, we prepare fully for rain or shine – making sure it is a great day out whatever the weather.

VIP Members of the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society can access our President’s Suite on show day with VIP seating alongside the main ring, private catering and toilets and their own bar!

Shropshire County Show will once again be hitting the right note with visitors this year with the Shropshire Live Bandstand hosting a varied programme of music during the day.

Main ring entertainment unveiled for Shropshire County Show

Main ring attractions are a highlight of the Shropshire County Show, and we can now reveal the full programme and timings so that you can start planning your day. Our showpiece event takes place at the DMOS People West Mid Showground here in Shrewsbury on Saturday May 25 with attractions in the Main Arena running from 9.30am until 6pm, and in the Countryside Arena from 10am until 4.30pm.
